Made in China

Some camera phone snapshots during my recent trip to Guangzhou, China.

Local food was good - much better than I expected, in times of uncertainty, go to McDonalds or KFC. Shopping was great, Beijing Lu and Xiaju Lu are two decent shopping places – make sure you bargain hard and triple-check the goods before leaving the shop. Drink as many China’s Tsingtao Beer as possible (or any local beer for that matter) so you'll get drunk and won’t get fearful like me.

It was an interesting trip in a nutshell. I hope I can visit other places in China soon, maybe Shanghai or Beijing.

Oh Another Prada!

This pair of Prada is making me consider eating nothing but instant noodles daily for a month. Made of gray woven Italian leather with an espadrille-like rubber heel with dark navy, white and grey colorway, this one is calling my credit card name, Im telling you!

The Carpenter’s Bag

The Northwesterner series is dedicated to the unique climate of the Pacific Northwest. These bags are built using #10 Martexin Original Wax, water-repellant canvas, with fine leather on the bottom, handles and straps.
This model is black with black leather like a soft, like a well-worn baseball glove. Metal studs protect the bottom of the bag and a fiberboard inner panel keeps things in shape. Steel d-rings are riveted into the steel frame and it comes with a matching leather strap. One pocket is sewn into the interior back panel, with the Wood&Faulk logo stitched inside.

Looks modish and well-made, just the way I like it.

ANTM (Not America's Next Top Model)

I love Tyra Bank’s Americas Next Top Model and I think I’ve seen every cycle. It is interesting to watch the wannabe models trying to outwit and outshine each other (Read: Love the silly catfights!) and of course, the glamorous photo shoots.  So when I heard the news that Asia will give a new meaning to one of TV’s most popular acronyms--- A.N.T.M. ---I got all woozy and excited. Here comes...

This is the Pan-Asian version of the fashion-themed reality TV show. Imagine how the series follows a cast of young women from all over Asia (goodness, you have to watch-out for the Filipino contenders!) in several shapes, tones and sizes trying to win a coveted modeling contract, a magazine editorial spread and all that jazz ! And oh, think of the guest designers, photographers and  judges, I'm so excited!

To be hosted by former international model, actress and presenter, Nadya Hutagalung. The show is set to air across Asia late 2012.

The Men’s Fashion Week Singapore 2012

One of the highly-anticipated fashion events in Asia, The Men’s Fashion Week Singapore is back for the second year! And as we all expected, Fide Productions promises a much bigger and glitzier week than last year. The event (which costs an estimated $8 million to produce) will stage up to 19 shows from both local and international labels and designers. A marriage of fashion and music will be celebrated from 18th to 22nd of April 2012 at the equally glitzy, Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center.

I’m so thrilled!

Nail It

Just when we thought only movies get a remake; here comes French high-jewelry house Cartier (re)launching their nail bracelet but this time in 3D in a collection of bracelets and rings in yellow, rose and white gold. The first nail bracelet was created in the 70s by Cartier’s Aldo Cipullo, who also formed the famous Cartier Love bracelet. Honestly, Cartier Juste un Clou collection reminds of Martin Margiela but I love it anyway, especially the thick yellow.

Drunk at Laneway Festival 2012

Indie music isn’t really my plastic-cup of beer but as long as there’s music I can dance with it and gives a great vibe, I'm game! Just don’t ask me who the artists were, no idea.
I’ve heard of Coachella and saw photos of that event so experiencing Laneway, they say, is the closest I can get to Coachella in Singapore. And boy, it was ridiculously fun!!!

Burp!

My Everyday Bag

One of my few favorite things. The bag’s structure, size and color are perfect for me. We are a match made in (bag) heaven.
